World Breastfeeding Week

Today starts World Breastfeeding Week August 1-7, 2013 and also National Breastfeeding Month! To start I’d like to say:

Congratulations to every Mom that has even attempted to breastfeed their child! You rock!

I am a big supporter of breastfeeding and I am currently breastfeeding my 4 1/2 month old. At times breastfeeding is hard and so time consuming but, I do it for the good of my child. The bonding is amazing and I know I am giving my baby the best. I wish more women would take the time to at least try to breastfeed. Every drop counts!

My mini rant: Nothing upsets me more than ignorant people making comments negatively about the matter.

Things to say to people who are being ridiculous about breastfeeding:

1. Most people drink COW’s milk… That is not even natural. Seriously.

2. Do you eat your lunch in the bathroom? Why should my baby?

3. I don’t judge or harp on you for feeding your child formula, and I totally could. Just saying.

4. There is nothing sexual about breastfeeding… WTF?!  I am feeding my child. Get over yourself!

I’d like to say that breastfeeding is not for everyone. Some woman can’t and some just aren’t comfortable with it. I am fine with that and totally respect your decision. In the end, we all love our children no matter which way they are fed!

And can I just say that I love love love that WIC is now such a supporter of breastfeeding!! I think the WIC program is amazing and I am a proud supporter!
