Five on Friday

I’m linking up with Darci over at The Good Life Blog for Five on Friday and Lauren at Lauren Elizabeth for H54F

1. I have totally been in a non-gmo kick lately.  I am slowly changing what we eat and doing lots of research. I figured I’d change Tinky’s snacks first and move from there.  It’s been well received. GMOs freak me out… I know we won’t be able to be non-gmo all the time but I’m going try and make the best decisions for my family that I can.

We love Annie's!

We love Annie’s!

2. I took the sippy cup away at night again… last week. It was gone and then we had Ayla and 6 months later… Here we are. I know it’s bad for her to have it as she falls asleep but after I had T2 I felt guilty. She has gotten away with a lot because of my guilt and it’s time to change that. Having a preemie was tough and a 2 year old doesn’t understand. It’s going pretty good.

3. We are hot and heavy on the potty training. It’s tough but we will get there. I’ll be posting all about it sometime soon.

4. I’m expecting a couple of subscription boxes… I’m super excited about them. I will be receiving a Bluum box and a KlutchBox. Bluum box is for children with a special gift for Mom and KlutchBox sends items for a healthy and active lifestyle. I got great deals on both of them which makes it even more thrilling! I’ll post about them when they come! If you want to try a Bluum box here is my referral link: http://bluum.me/19eS5ml

5. Shaun and I were reminiscing about our wedding day over this past weekend. We talked about memorable moments, what we don’t really remember and what we remember because of the pictures we have. It was a nice time remembering and talking about our special day. Sometimes you get so caught up in life you forget the important stuff.

Five on Friday

1. My two year old is on a roll this week… She fell and split her chin on Sunday, wrote on our TV with crayon,  I found her sitting on top of play kitchen,  she poured her milk into the gas tank of her car and got into my makeup for like the 20th time. Crazy stuff! Is this normal 2 year old behavior? I have nothing to compare it to and so I’m going to keep telling myself it is! She keeps me on my toes! Luckily, she is my favorite crazy two year old ever!

2. T2 is getting so big… as our last baby I just want it to slow down. I know they won’t be my babies forever but, throw me a bone! She is such a happy baby and a joy to be around. I have the most amazing and beautiful daughters… God has truly blessed me.

Toes are fun!

A couple missing here 😉

4. I really want to get a bento box… I’ve been eyeing this one.

5. Soccer season is starting soon… It’s a love/hate relationship with me. My hubby refs high school and college and is gone a lot during the season… on the up side extra money to go shopping and he does look sexy in those short referee shorts!

You’re the only ten I see…

Are you from Tennessee? ‘Cause you’re the only TEN I SEE!

I thought I say 10 quick things about my trip to Tennessee last week.

1. I was sent to Tennessee last week to do some training for my new job. BTW I am super excited to get back into the workforce part-time!

image

2. Since the company I am now working for wanted me to fly out of state for training… I did. I hadn’t been on a plane in a while and I was nervous. Luckily, the flight was good and I made it safe.

3. It was hard to leave my babies for 2 days but I did it, and they were just fine. I gave them lots of kisses and my hubby too!

4. The company I work for is very accommodating to breastfeeding mothers. They had a mother’s room for me to be able to pump while I was there and they let me break as much as I needed.
image

5. I have family in Tennessee and was able to meet up with some of them. So nice to meet up with family that you don’t get to see that often.
image

6. Nashville is a beautiful place and had lots of fun things to look at. My Great Uncle took me around the city and showed me some cool places.

6. My cousin Joe is a barber. He owns his own shop and is pretty awesome! I was able to visit it… pretty cool. I would of course recommend any guy looking to for that old school barber shop experience to stop by. Not many places do it like he does anymore.

7. Monell’s. Family style southern cooking. AMAZING! If you are in Nashville you need to go there! The restaurant is in an old house. So good.

8. The Cupcake Collection. We heard so many wonderful things about this cupcake shop so we had to go check it out. We got there close to the end of the day so they didn’t have as big of a selection as I would have liked. That being said… what I did have was awesome! It was a nice treat to bring home to the family. My husband liked the sweet potato one the best and I liked the strawberry. I got a red velvet and triple chocolate as well. They were all yummy.

9. I totally got an alcoholic drink while out of town. I’m a Mom and I’m nursing so this was a treat! Blueberry margarita… one drink and I didn’t even have to skip a pump!

10. Overall, my trip was pretty great. I’m excited about my new career and I was happy to get out of town for a couple of days. I truly missed my girls though. Nothing tops…

Five on Friday!

I’m linking up with Darci over at The Good Life Blog for Five on Friday and Lauren at Lauren Elizabeth for H54F

1. I had a great time this past weekend meeting up the ladies to Celebrate Jenny’s birthday! It’s nice get out with friends and not have your kids hanging all over you. We all need some adult time every once in a while and it was wonderful.
image

2. I started a part-time job and I am loving it. I haven’t worked since right before I had Ayla. It’s been nice to actually shower and wear nice clothes again. It’s easy to get into a habit of being just a Mom. Somedays I am just to busy to worry about myself and having a job makes me take time to look and smell good! When you look good you feel good!

Selfie... sometimes I dust off my make-up!

Selfie…

3. I’m going out of town for a couple of days for training… in Nashville. I’m excited and nervous. Excited to train, get out of town and to sleep by myself! Nervous to leave my girls. I will miss them so much!

4. My babies are just getting so big and it’s just sad. I want them to grow as they should but it seems like it goes so fast. I just want it all to slow down.

5. It’s breastfeeding month… so in honor of that:

My thoughts on co-sleeping…

I’m going to start by giving some background:

When Livvy was born I was determined to not make all the new parenting mistakes and for the most part I didn’t. I didn’t want her to feel like she had to sleep with someone next to her and so, she slept in her crib. She loved her crib. She transitioned into a toddler bed and then after we found out we were expecting we moved her into a twin. Livvy is Miss Independent and does fine sleeping on her own. Ayla is a different story. I like to blame me making all the rookie mistakes with my second baby on the fact that she was a preemie. Soooooo… I think that is why she is still sleeping my bed… in my arms. That is right… not only will she not sleep at night if she’s not next to me but, she has to be in my arms. She does sleep from 9pm until about 6:30am with one wake up at 5am to nurse and that is awesome!

So here are my thoughts on co-sleeping…

1. It’s OK to co-sleep if it’s right for you and your baby.

2. If you are a heavy sleeper… don’t do it!

3. If you are breastfeeding it is so convenient! At 5 am every morning I just stick a boob in her mouth!

4. Don’t start having your baby sleep in your arms when co-sleeping…sometimes I wish she could just sleep next to me and some mornings I am so stiff when I wake up.

5. Make sure your husband and you are on the same page about it (luckily, mine doesn’t mind).

6. If you don’t do it with the first, don’t do it with the second. I say this because I feel like it bothers my 2 year old. I am always wondering if she is feeling resentful because Ayla is in our bed and not her. Let me be honest… I have totally let Livvy sleep in my bed more because I feel bad. I don’t want her to feel second best. I’m not sure if it’s just me that feels guilty or if she really does resent the fact that her sister is in our bed. Sometimes being a parent sucks!

Note* I am no expert and I am expressing my own opinion from my own experiences…

And now some fun pictures of the girls in our bed… Damn, my kids are cute 😉

Her God Parents are Kim and Margaret. Luckily our church allows you to have two god-mothers! Speaking of our Church, Father Taranto is amazing and hilarious! I am so thankful for such an amazing man leading our parish.
